Our Story
Shining Wonders Montessori Preschool and Childcare was first established in 2003 in Tuscany. In 2008 Shining Wonders moved to a new 2000 square foot location, also in Tuscany, with a capacity of 30 children, and offers children bright, well maintained classrooms and play areas. In 2011 Shining Wonders became a provincially licensed childcare facility, the first such licensed childcare facility in the community of Tuscany. In 2013, Shining Wonders received accreditation by the Province of Alberta.
As Tuscany’s only licensed and accredited childcare facility, we are proud to be able to provide high quality care and education to the children of the community and its surroundings.

Mrs. Buddhi Yatawara
Administrator and Montessori Program Supervisor
Mrs. Yatawara, a foreign Attorney-at-Law, has over twenty years of Montessori teaching and Pre-school experience, both in the US and Canada, and is Level III certified in Early Childhood Education and in the Montessori Method of Education. Mrs. Yatawara has held numerous positions in preschool and childcare facilities which range from Montessori Teacher to Program Director to Childcare Facility Director.
Mrs. Dianetha Kont
Facility Director
Mrs. Kont has a Master’s degree in Education and a B.Sc. in Biological Sciences. Mrs. Kont is Level III certified in Early Childhood Education (Child Development Supervisor), and has 10 years experience in Early Childhood Education. Mrs. Kont has previously worked with the Calgary Health Region, and also has volunteer experience with the Alberta Children’s Hospital.
Mrs. Dilhara Pathirana (Ms. Dilhara)
Montessori Teacher
Ms. Dilhara is an Association Montessori Internationale (A.M.I.) qualified Montessori teacher with over 8 years of Montessori experience.
Mrs. Gurpreet Duggal (Ms. Gurpreet)
Assistant Montessori Teacher
Ms. Gurpreet has a Master’s of Education degree and is Level III certified in Early Childhood Education (Child Development Supervisor). Ms Gurpreet has over 10 years experience with preschool children and puts great emphasis on ensuring that children are well taken care of on a daily basis.
Mrs. Suman Sehgal (Ms. Suman)
Level I Early Childhood Educator
Ms. Suman is a Level I Early Childhood Educator at Shining Wonders. Ms. Suman has a Bachelor of Science degree in Electronics and Communication. With her prior experience teaching high-schoolers Math and Science, Ms. Suman loves bringing number and science crafts to the classroom on a regular basis.
Mrs. Bavandeep Kaur (Ms. Deep)
Level I Early Childhood Educator
Ms. Deep is a Childcare Development Assistant at Shining Wonders. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Social Studies. As the primary teacher in charge of toddlers, Ms. Deep enjoys enhancing children’s learning, by teaching children number, letter sound, color and shape activities throughout the school year.
Mrs. Xiao Ying Ding (Ms. Emily)
Level I Early Childhood Educator
Ms. Emily is a Level I Early Childhood Educator at Shining Wonders and assists with our Toddler group. She takes pride in ensuring that our toddlers are well taken care of, from being well fed to showing much affection on a daily basis.
